She learned to sew by hand from her mother, and at the age of twelve she received a Bernina sewing machine from her grandmother. The rest she taught herself. &#8220;I mostly taught myself by doing it a lot.&#8221; She once sewed two skirts together, convinced she would end up with a pair of trousers. &#8220;I quickly found out that it didn&#8217;t quite work that way.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A real Sientje<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her label was on there right from the start. &#8220;It&#8217;s the crowning glory of your work and it gave me a wonderful feeling straight away. A real Sientje!&#8221; Her logo is a flower, her signature.
